By 2030, SPA envisions a robust and globally recognized PA profession that is central to India’s healthcare system. SPA aims to advance educational standards, enhance community health, and establish international collaborations, ensuring that Indian PAs are equipped to meet both national and global healthcare needs.

Mission Statement

SPA is dedicated to advancing the Physician Assistant profession in India by fostering educational excellence, enhancing community engagement, supporting continuous professional growth, and establishing global recognition for Indian PAs through collaboration and innovation.

Strategic Pillars and Objectives

Education and Licensing

Objective: Raise educational standards and establish licensing pathways for global recognition.

  • Introduction to New Areas of Medicine: Expand the PA curriculum to include emerging fields, such as community medicine, AI in healthcare, genomics, and telemedicine.
  • Licensing Exam for International Recognition: Develop a national licensing exam by 2027 that aligns with global standards, enabling Indian PAs to work in other countries.
  • Establish PA Educational Institutions Association: Facilitate the formation of an association to unite PA institutions, standardize curriculum, and ensure the quality of PA education.
  • Standardized Curriculum and Registry: Launch standardized PA education programs with a national registry to monitor and maintain quality, targeting completion by 2025.

Community Engagement and Public Health

Objective: Enhance community health and strengthen SPA’s role in public engagement.
